Autopsy of an Empty Branch

Last night's windstorm created quite a rumble in the treetops. Brittle branches dropping through a skeletal early-Spring canopy only to land willy-nilly in the yard. One falling branch nearly hit the car, missing the hood by only this much. Had it struck the hood it would surely have left a large gash in the car's otherwise fairly-flawless body.

Instead, as the night would have it, the large knotty branch only grazed the bumper--a scratch easily rubbed out and forgotten. Apparently, when the branch crashed to the pavement beside the car, unseen, it splintered into seven inelegant fragments because, as you may know, it was already so dead on the inside.

Stay Poetic!
